After fulfilling his teaching assistance duties at the Institute for Criminal Law and Criminology at University of Bern, where he completed his PhD, Goran Mazzucchelli has been practising the law since 2000. Since 2018, he has been appointed lecturer in Swiss Substantive Criminal and Procedural Law at the University of Lucerne. From 2009 to 2017, he was an adjunct professor of Swiss Criminal Law at Uninsubria in Como.
He regularly holds courses in criminal law at the University of applied sciences and arts of southern Switzerland (SUPSI) and the Centro Studi Villa Negroni. From 2007 to 2019, he was a member of the Review Committee for Dangerous Convicted Felons in the Canton of Ticino. Since 2020, he has been substitute judge for the coercive measures in the field of the law on foreign nationals of the Canton of Ticino. He is further Vice-President of the Swiss Football League’s Court of appeal (SFL). In addition, he acts both as an arbitrator and a counsel in domestic and international arbitration proceedings. Goran Mazzucchelli was a member of the Swiss Chambers’ Arbitration Institution’s Court (SCAI) and is still a member of the GASI committee (ASA Group of the Canton of Ticino). Since 2021, he has been an arbitrator from the pool elected by financial intermediaries within the Court of Arbitration of the Self-Regulatory Organisation (SRO) of the Swiss Bar Association (SBA) and Swiss Notary Association (SNA). During the years, he has participated in various study groups created by both the Government of Canton Ticino and the Federal Council in the field of criminal and procedural legislation.
He regularly publishes doctrinal content in Italian and German. In 2023, Goran Mazzucchelli was an official speaker at the annual conference of the Swiss Society of Criminal Law (SKG-SSDP) on the revision of the Criminal Procedure Code.
